Additional information
This is a well-established bariatric fellowship in a large bariatric centre performing over 400 bariatric cases per year. Previous fellows have progressed to Bariatric consultant posts across the UK. Recent activity has fallen from a peak of 650 operative cases but the unit continues to receive over 1000 new patient referrals per year for weight loss surgery and we expect a minimum of 400 operations per year. The post has RCS Eng approval. The unit has an excellent academic record which the fellow would be expected to contribute to. Balloon, Band, sleeve RYGB and Loop Bypass are performed in addition to revisional surgery. Over the course of the year we would anticipate a post CCT to develop independence in managing all aspects of bariatric care including pre-operative workup, patient and procedure selection, post-op and emergency care in addition and be involved in 100 operative cases, with independent practice developing over the year.
